Lexington County Farm-City

to strengthen the understanding of farm-city connections that provide food, fiber, and shelter.

Farm-City Week - November 20-26, 2015

National Farm-City Week, the week leading up to Thanksgiving (November 20-26, 2015), is a great time to celebrate agriculture – growing the Midlands, growing South Carolina. The celebration is designed to increase awareness of how farm and city people depend on each other for growing, processing, and distributing food, fiber, fuel and a growing list of other products. To celebrate the occasion, Lexington County Farm City partnered with WACH Fox 57 in Columbia in 2014 to broadcast a series called Ag Works - Farm Eye for the City Guy.

The show, hosted by City Guy Tyler Ryan is designed to show how hard farmers work. People really don’t care if farmers wear overalls or suits or if they drive a mule and plow or a tractor with technical advances like GPS systems that rival those of Silicon Valley. They just want and expect their food to be on the table, sheets on the bed, and a roof over their head.

Ag Works is a wonderful way to show and acknowledge the incredible challenges facing farmers right here in the Midlands who work from dawn to dusk, often 24-7, in all kinds of inclement weather, facing daunting rules and regulations, expensive equipment and fuel only to be ridiculed for doing a job that no one else wants to do or will do.
